Alicante is home to several castles and archaeological sites. The most prominent castle in Alicante is on the top of Mount Benacantil at a height of 166 meters. The Castle of Santa Barbara is one of the largest medieval fortresses in Spain. Here you and the kiddies can enjoy an amazing view of town and harbor. Getting here is also a great way for your family to get some exercise and maybe tucker the kids out, when you opt for the walk from Plaza de Carmen. If not you can take an elevator lift. In the heart of Alicante is one of the finest beaches in Spain. Postiguet Beach is excellent for relaxing or playing in the sun and water during the day, but it is also a sight to behold in the evening, illuminated by street lights.

For the bells and whistles of your trip, treat your kids to the Terra Mitica Park. Known as Benidorm's Ancient History Theme Park, this may be a better educational option than just touring the sights with uninterested children.  Alicante also offers catamaran cruises. Break up your experience of the city with an afternoon spent out on the water.
